Lidarist was delegated to take as-built record of the installed underground cable with approximate 45m next to a highway. Point clouds was captured by terrestrial laser scanner and the point clouds of cable containment was segmented by our neural network.

Newly Installed Underground Cable & Pipework

With the point clouds of as-built underground works collected by contractors, Lidarist was delegated to extract the data of underground cable & pipework fro the raw point clouds. By using our "point clouds to BIM approach", the point clouds of cable containment and pipes are segmented by our neural network and converted to boundary-representation models by our models fitting algorithm to facilitate BIM application.

Underground Water Pipework

The point clouds of an approximate 200m length water pipework was selected as a trial of our "point clouds to BIM approach". In the project, the pipe components including straight pipes, elbows, tees and valves were recognized by the specific trained neural network. The segmented objects were then processed by models fitting algorithm for 3D models and BIM conversion.
